Privacy policy

We collect very little about you, and we only use Google Analytics if you say yes. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it, in plain words.

Who we are

This website, therightfootstudio.com, is run by The Right Foot Studio, Unipessoal Lda., a company registered in Portugal with tax number 519644980 and its registered office at Rua Castilho, nº 14, C 5º A, 1250-165 Lisboa.

We are the “data controller” for the information described here, which is the legal way of saying we decide how it is used and we are responsible for it.

For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

What we collect

There are only two situations in which we receive information about you.

  • When you contact us. If you email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to reply and, if we end up working together, to run the project and send invoices.
  • When you browse the site, if you accept cookies. Google Analytics records how the site is used: which pages are visited, for how long, the type of device and browser, the approximate location (country or city, never an exact address) and how you arrived (a search engine, LinkedIn, a direct link). We look at this as totals and trends, not to identify individual people.

If you decline cookies, Google Analytics does not load and we collect nothing about your visit.

We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use two kinds.

CookieSet byWhat it doesNeeds your consent?
zaraz-consent Cloudflare Remembers whether you accepted or declined, so we don’t ask on every page No, it is strictly necessary
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Tells visits apart, so we can count visitors and see how they move through the site Yes

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing loads until you answer.

Changed your mind? Click “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page to reopen the banner and change your choice. You can also delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Why we’re allowed to use it

The GDPR requires a legal reason for each use of personal data. Ours are:

What we doLegal reason
Website analytics Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time
Replying to your messages Our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, or steps you asked us to take before a contract
Running projects and invoicing clients Performing our contract, and our legal obligations (for example, keeping accounting records)

Who else sees it

We use two service providers, who process data on our behalf and under our instructions:

  • Cloudflare, which hosts and protects this website and runs the cookie banner.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics and our email (Google Workspace).

Both may process data outside the European Union, including in the United States. Both companies are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as giving an adequate level of protection.

We only share data with anyone else if the law requires it, for example with the tax authorities.

How long we keep it

DataHow long
Google Analytics data 14 months, then Google deletes it automatically
Emails from people who don’t become clients Up to 2 years after our last contact
Client project records and invoices As long as the law requires (in Portugal, accounting records are kept for 10 years)

You can ask us to delete your data sooner, unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can ask us to:

  • show you the data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct it if it’s wrong;
  • delete it;
  • stop or limit how we use it;
  • send it to you, or to someone else, in a standard digital format.

You can also withdraw your consent to analytics at any time, through the “Cookie settings” link. This doesn’t affect anything collected before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll reply within one month. It’s free.

If you think we’ve handled your data badly, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD). We’d appreciate the chance to fix it first, though.

Changes to this policy

If we start using new tools or collecting something new, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, the cookie banner will ask for your consent again.
