So it feels worth it.

Understanding a change isn’t the same as wanting to support it. We help people see what’s at stake, why it matters to them, and why the new way deserves a chance.

You need Connect when…

How to make people believe it

People resist change when the old way works for them and nobody has shown them the new way will too. Good change work does four things:

  1. 1Takes resistance seriously. Listens to what people are saying, looks for what’s behind it, and distinguishes legitimate concerns from misunderstandings.
  2. 2Makes the case from where people stand. Connects the reason for change to their work, their challenges and the realities of their working lives.
  3. 3Makes the new way credible. Uses real examples, evidence and the experiences of colleagues to show what the change looks like in practice, without promising what can’t be delivered.
  4. 4Equips managers for honest conversations. Gives them the context, answers and confidence to discuss the change, including the difficult questions that don’t have easy answers.

What you get

  1. 1The Alignment Brief: what people need to believe, what’s stopping them, and how we’ll know it’s shifted.
  2. 2The case for change, retold: the story of why, from the point of view of the people affected.
  3. 3The material itself: films, interactive stories, testimonies from colleagues, leadership talk tracks.
  4. 4A manager toolkit: the conversation guide, the hard questions and honest answers.

Fair questions

Isn’t this the change management team’s job?

Change management provides the wider approach to preparing and supporting people through a change. We focus on the communication that helps make the change credible and relevant: the case for change, the human story, the evidence and the conversations that bring it to life. We work alongside your change team.

What if people have good reasons to resist?

Then we’d rather know. Part of Extract is listening to the people affected, and we bring what we hear back to you.

What’s the difference between Engage and Connect?

Engage makes the change understandable. Connect addresses what happens next: whether people trust the reasons, see why it matters to them and are willing to give the change a chance. Some projects need both.

Can you make people support a change they don’t want?

We can’t manufacture genuine support, and we wouldn’t pretend otherwise. We can help people understand the reasons, explore their concerns, see what’s in it for them and make an informed decision about how to move forward.

What if we’ve already communicated the change?

We start by asking what happened. Did people understand the rationale but disagree with it? Did they feel ignored? Were the promised benefits never realised? Repeating the original message won’t solve a problem we haven’t identified.

How do you know whether Connect has worked?

Belief shows up in behaviour. We look at operational friction signals: do manager pushback questions drop? Are people using the new tools voluntarily? Are teams advocating the shift to peer teams without being forced?
